The Teenage Magazine Arbitration Panel

The Teenage Magazine Arbitration Panel (TMAP)

The Teenage Magazine Arbitration Panel (TMAP) is the magazine industry's self-regulatory body which ensures that the sexual content of teenage magazines is presented in a responsible and appropriate manner.

TMAP is the final arbiter on the interpretation of the TMAP guidelines, which cover sexual subject matter in teenage magazines.

The guidelines were produced in co-operation with magazine publishers, editors and retailers and have been approved by the Home Office. The aim of the guidelines is to help publishers of teenage magazines in fulfilling their role in the sexual and emotional development of young adolescents. Publishers must provide accurate and suitable advice on sexual matters, whilst retailers must ensure that magazines are displayed appropriately.
